The New Year

Everyone is always says, “New year, new me!”, but I personally have never felt that way when the new year rolls around. I have never felt the need to wait until a new year to make a change, or felt like the coming of a new year was the best time to make a change.

But of course, to each his or her own. Every person is different. For some people that start of a new year feels like a blank canvas, and they are the painter.  For people like me, the canvas for change is always blank, and anytime I want to make a change it is on me to make it happen.

I do love that my friends and online community are making resolutions to better themselves. I want to be there in the corner cheering them on. Not just for the first month, but all year until they reach their goals. Rooting others on has also increased my own convictions toward my goals. And for this I am very grateful.

Since September, I have been on a weight loss journey. I want to be healthier and more fit going forward in life. In three months, I had worked on lessening calories, working on eating healthier, and increasing work outs. I was starting to feel better than I had in a long time. I was losing up to 1.5 pounds a week.

But then, I hit a road block. The holidays! In just the two weeks around Christmas and the New Years, I managed to gain back 3 pounds. This really hurt my conviction. But now thanks to my friends and online community I have renewed convictions and people to share the journey with and keep each other accountable.

How do you feel about New Years resolutions? Did you make any resolutions? Or do you have a goal you have been working on?
